June 2026 – Summary
Building Peace Together… and Strengthening Emergency Healthcare
June 2026 marked another important milestone for Manzoul e.V. as the organization continued implementing its programmes to strengthen social cohesion and promote peace in the city of Al-Qaryatayn. At the same time, a major achievement was reached in the health sector with the opening of the Emergency Department at Al-Qaryatayn National Hospital under the Al-Qaryatayn Emergency Response Enhancement (AQ-ERE) Project.
During the same month, the medical training programme continued with the participation of distinguished Syrian physicians from both Syria and abroad. Meanwhile, the Bridges of Peace project achieved significant progress through youth empowerment, the development of community-led initiatives, and the organization of activities that foster dialogue, cooperation, and active civic engagement.
Bridges of Peace Project: Building Trust and Strengthening Communities
Throughout June, the Bridges of Peace project continued implementing a series of community-based activities aimed at strengthening social cohesion, promoting a culture of dialogue, and empowering young people to play an active role in the development of their communities.
Activities included community dialogue sessions, the development of youth-led initiatives, a community festival, educational and psychosocial support activities for school students, as well as initiatives to preserve local cultural heritage and strengthen cooperation with local authorities.
Highlights of the Month
❤️ Community Festival for Social Cohesion
On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, a community festival was organized to promote the values of peaceful coexistence, social harmony, and community participation.
🕊️ Peace Ambassadors Training
A capacity-building programme was conducted for Peace Ambassadors to strengthen their skills in dialogue facilitation and community engagement.
📋 Development and Approval of Community Initiatives
Community project proposals were finalized and submitted to the evaluation committee in preparation for implementation.
🏛️ “Our Village… Our Story” Initiative
An interactive heritage session was held in Jbab Al-Zeit village to preserve local cultural heritage while strengthening community identity and a sense of belonging.
📚 English Course for Ninth-Grade Students
Academic support was provided through an English language course designed to help students prepare for their upcoming examinations.
🧠 Stress and Anxiety Management Workshop
A mental health awareness session equipped students with practical strategies for managing examination stress and anxiety.
⚠️ Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Risk Awareness
In cooperation with local authorities, an awareness session was organized to educate community members about the dangers of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and promote safe practices.







🌱 From Ideas to Community Initiatives
Following several months of training and capacity-building activities, youth teams entered the community initiative development phase.
Participants assessed local needs, identified community priorities, and developed comprehensive project proposals that included problem analysis, clear objectives, implementation plans, budgets, and monitoring indicators.
The phase concluded with the submission of the final proposals to the evaluation committee, paving the way for the implementation of locally led initiatives.

🏥 Al-Qaryatayn Emergency Response Enhancement (AQ-ERE) Project
Opening of the Emergency Department
On 15 June, the Emergency Department at Al-Qaryatayn National Hospital officially began receiving patients as part of the Al-Qaryatayn Emergency Response Enhancement (AQ-ERE) Project.
The project is implemented in partnership with the Association for Cooperation in Care and Development (ACCD), Al-Qaryatayn National Hospital, and the Homs Health Directorate. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The project aims to strengthen emergency preparedness, improve clinical workflows and protocols, enhance the capacity of healthcare professionals, and connect Syrian medical expertise inside and outside the country.
